Low Expansion Alloys Used in the Solar Industry

Solar Industry Low Expansion Alloys: Invar 36 & 42 Alloy

Solar Panel Manufacturing

Technology used in the solar industries must be corrosion-resistant and remain stable to support and protect sensitive glass cells in extreme heat and cold. The physical properties of materials used can also contribute to the efficiency of a solar energy system.

Invar 36 is a low expansion alloy that is commonly found in the manufacturing tools used to build solar panels. Alloy 42, similar to Invar 36 but with a slightly different Coefficient of Thermal Expansion, is also used in solar industry manufacturing tools, as well as microelectronic components and semiconductors.
