Carbon Steel: Alloy 1010
Carbon Steel Alloy 1010 is a general purpose, low carbon steel with good weldability and forming. It is often used for general structural and automotive bodies, machinery stands, exhaust tubes, handles, hand rails, display stands, conveyor rollers, cold headed fasteners and bolts. Carbon Steel Alloy 1010 is a relatively low strength steel but can be quenched and tempered for increased strength.
Super Invar has found applications due to its near zero coefficient of thermal expansion. This alloy can be easily formed, welded, and machined, similar to Kovar, following an established procedure. This low expansion alloy is iron-nickel based and similar to Invar.
