Alloy 718: High Temperature & Corrosion Resistant

Alloy 718: High Temperature & Corrosion Resistant

Alloy 718 is a member of the high temperature and corrosion resistant family. Some of its characteristics include fatigue resistance and stress rupture properties in temperatures up to 1300 degrees Fahrenheit. On the other hand, the alloy’s oxidation resistance can withstand temperatures as high as 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. Alloy 718 receives its precipitation hardening durability as a result of thermal treatment.

Alloy 718 is recognized for its corrosion ability. When used with acids and organic solvents, this alloy possesses excellent corrosion resistance. Alloy 718 is often used in the aircraft and aerospace industry due to its temperature performance abilities. This alloy is also resistant to stress corrosion cracking. Common applications of this alloy include jet engine parts, pump parts, rocket motors castings, aerospace components, nuclear reactor fuel, support grids, and more.
